A stone's throw from Ponte Vecchio and the Vasari Corridor, the Hôtel Pitti Palace Florence *** is located in one of the districts most evocative of medieval Florence. It is also within walking distance of both the Uffizi Gallery and the Pitti Palace.
The hôtel is contained within the walls of the Torre dei Rossi (Rossi Tower), which dates back to 1200. From inside the tower one can see the Ponte Vecchio's stone buttresses jutting out over the Arno river.
Seven floors make the tower one of Florence's taller buildings, and there is a splendid suite crowning the Hôtel on the top floor.
The 72 rooms are comfortable and cheerful, and the color scheme was chosen with an eye towards simplicity, linear and practical design. There is ample table space. The windows are large, inviting in the special atmosphere of the Oltrarno (Florence's Left Bank), where the Hôtel is situated.
Each room is sound-proofed, air conditioned and contains satellite T.V., fridge, direct outside phone line, a wall safe for valuables, a hair dryer and a bathroom with tub.
The suite is the only of its kind in Florence: it is located on the seventh floor of the Hôtel and the guest is treated to a 360° view of Florence and the surrounding hills. The space comprises a small study, a living room with a view of the Pitti Palace, the Boboli Gardens and Santo Spirito.
There are two bathrooms as well as a private terrace with a view of the Arno river, the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo (Cathedral) and the Tuscan landscape, which is characterized by the gently rolling hills of Renaissance paintings.
A buffet breakfast is served with a spectacular view of Florence through the glass windows on the sixth floor. From spring through fall, breakfast is also served out on the two spacious terraces. At your feet, the cut stone of Florentine palaces gleams in the sunset, to create the color of an unforgettable moment.
